Molten glass is blown into sand, capturing its rough, crumbly texture and crystallizing into a stone-like object with exceptional brilliance. For this process, we use a special molding sand originally developed for the casting industry.
To make this technique suitable for small-scale production while preserving the uniqueness of each piece, we created molds from the original sand forms, which are then cast in bronze. Because the glass cannot be easily released from these bronze molds, each piece takes on individual distortions and additional textures, maintaining the unique character of the original sand imprint.
The drinking glasses are crafted from colored, eco-friendly soda-lime glass. Soda-lime glass is free from lead and is considered one of the most sustainable glass types, as it is fully recyclable and requires relatively less energy to produce. Owing to the handmade process, every glass is unique: shapes, sizes, and wall thicknesses may vary. Each piece is blown and polished by hand in Sweden.
